The Drive-Through is no longer necessary…

I know what it’s like to be busy.Bag lunch

Not only am I a working mom, but my 7 year old is involved in dance and violin. Last fall, we were on the go every evening. Thursdays were especially crazy. She would come home from school, change, and we were right back out the door to dance. We would leave dance and go straight to hand-bell and church chior practice.

We wouldn’t get home until 7:45.

You bet we were hungry! It would have been so easy for us to swing by the drive-through and pick up something quick, but less-than nutritious.

And you can imagine, I wasn’t havin’ that!

I know me – when I eat poorly, I feel icky.

And, all it takes sometimes is one false move through the drive-through to start a week-long binge on not-so-good-for-me foods. Not to mention, I want to teach my daughter healthy eating.

Enter: The Cooler Bag

We’ve got this neat little cooler bag that’s shaped like a cube, is insulated, and can fit all sorts of good stuff in it. I am always aware of when we’re going to be on the go for long days or long nights, and I make sure to pack the cooler bag full of great stuff.

Healthy, yummy snacks on the go

Sometimes, we would take sandwiches in our cooler bag. You could do tuna, PB&J, or one of my favorites is a cucumber, tomato sandwich with herbed tofu spread.

We would also pack munchie things like veggies and dip, trail mix, and fruit or veggies. You could also do granola bars, or yogurt.

If you pick up a small thermos, you could do soups, or even green smoothies!

I know when you’re busy, the last thing you want to think about is stopping and packing snacks. But, why not take the time to pack the bag instead of taking the time to drive-through?

    awesome info!
    and I just got back from an insane driving trip and had our cooler of goodies because lord knows you cannot find a smoothie or fruit juice or fruit/veggies/nuts at a vending machine at a rest area!
